The award winning science fiction feature “The Vortex” was written and directed by YIAF student Drew Sherwood, age 12. This film won the Grand Prize at the First Night Escondido Film Festival 2007, as well as the Best Student Film and People’s Choice awards at the Carlsbad Environmental Film Festival 2007. This is Drew’s first attempt at writing, directing, and acting in the same project. We are extremely proud of him, and all of our students and volunteers who helped bring his dream to the screen.

We create a safe, fun, and professional environment where students can interact with industry professionals, and collaborate with other students. Hands on experience is the key to becoming comfortable with the ever-changing technology that we use to tell our stories.
